BTS-Seven Boys Who Dared To Dream

BTS 101

‘Peaches and cream, Sweeter than sweet, Chocolate cheeks and chocolate wings’, these are the things that make up every k-pop idol. K-pop for anyone who doesn’t know is a genre of popular music that originated in South Korea, but it’s now much more than just a genre of music. It’s now a culture in which millions of people follow religiously. It offers more than just simple music, it has every flavor for each palate and it fills your heart up like a wholesome meal. K-pop has the perfect blend of rock, jazz, folk, country, hip hop, and Korean traditional music.

BTS

In the K-pop phenomenon, BTS is the band that has blown up the biggest. It is the most popular band in the world right now. BTS (which stood for Bangtan Sonyeondan, meaning Bulletproof Boy Scouts, also known as Bangtan Boys, also ALSO known as Beyond the Scene) first formed in 2013 in Seoul, South Korea. Various members have cycled in and out of the seven-man group, but the current members of the septet are Kim Seok-jin (stage name Jin), Min Yoon-gi (Suga), Jung Ho-Seok (J-Hope), Kim Nam-Joon (RM), Park Ji-min (Jimin), Kim Tae-Hyung (V) and Jeon Jung-kook (Jungkook).

Introduction about its members:

  1. RM

RM

In K-pop bands, there’s a special role known as the leader role. Usually one of the older and more mature members of the group, think of the leader. They’re the ones who lookout for the rest of the group and in other words, they’re the spokesperson of the group. In 2018, when BTS spoke at the United Nations Generations Unlimited conference, it was RM who spoke for the group. Along with being the team leader, RM is also the main rapper. The main rapper is the rapper who gets the lion’s share of the rap verses and is largely considered the most technically skilled rapper of the group. They’re often responsible for writing the rap sections in the music.

  1. Jungkook

Jungkook

Jungkook is the all-rounder of the group (also my personal favorite). He is the main vocalist; he is the singing equivalent to RM’s main rapper spot, getting the majority of the solos. He’s also the lead dancer, meaning when the group is dancing together as a whole, Jungkook is usually the one front and center, expected to lead everyone through the dance. Along with that, he’s one of the sub rappers – think of him as rap support. He’s also the maknae of BTS, the youngest of the group. In other words, he’s the baby of BTS and is considered adorable to their fans. Lastly, as the center, or “face” of the group, Jungkook is the one expected to bring the charm offstage.

  1. Jimin

Jimin

He is the lead vocalist and main dancer and shifts places with Jungkook. As the main dancer, Jimin is the one who has the best skills on the stage. He’s the dancing showman of the group, and when there are solo dance breaks, it’s Jimin who is handling them. Occasionally, he’ll only be a backup vocalist in order to save his breath for the big dance numbers where he solos. However, when he’s not leading a solo bit of choreography, he picks up the vocals in the position of lead vocalist, right behind Jungkook. He’s often the one that leads them into songs and then allows Jungkook to take over. Plus, if Jungkook is sick or injured, he can fill in as the main vocalist. Consider him the vocal understudy, if you will.

  1. Jin

Jin

As a vocalist (or sub vocalist), Jin doesn’t normally get a huge piece of the songs. He’s there to support Jungkook and Jimin vocally, but he normally only has a few lines in any given song and some dancing. However, Jin has a particular role that makes him indispensable to the group: the visual. It’s similar to the face of the group, but where the face of the group is the center of attention in interviews thanks to their personality and charm, the visual of the group is considered the most aesthetically pleasing member of the group according to K-pop idol standards. While it may seem shallow, the idea of beauty is viewed differently in Korean culture.

  1. J-Hope

J-Hope

He is considered the main dancer of the group, so he often gets solo dance breaks, or is performing the hardest part of the choreography in any given dance. He and Jimin trade-off their places depending on the song, or swap back and forth. He’s also the lead rapper, second to RM, and often begins rap sections before passing the torch to RM. He’s quite skilled as a rapper but splits his performances between handling the choreography and the rapping, filling in where needed.

  1. Suga

Suga

He and J-Hope handle the secondary rapping after RM. Originally a songwriter, he has written and produced a number of tracks on all of BTS’s albums, helping RM in the creation of their music since their first album.

  1. V

V

As the second-youngest member of the group to Jungkook, V is a fully-fledged member of the group but still learning. While he gets a few lines in songs, he’s still learning to polish his vocals to take a larger share of the songs. He’s also started to help out in the writing of songs, contributing melodies to a few of BTS’s songs and becoming more involved in the songwriting process.

Just like the colors of the rainbow, they are individually amazing yet so perfect when they are together. BTS was crafted by Big Hit Entertainment. (can you hear the intro music? *wink, wink*) in the year 2010. They gained popularity in the next few years but they weren’t internationally popular until 2017, seven’s the lucky charm I guess. They have released multiple albums that have not only touched the hearts of millions but even changed their lives as well. Their lyrics focus on issues such as mental health, self-love, social and personal criticism the youth faces in this day and age.

What is ARMY?

ARMY

What is it that sets them apart from all the other K-pop bands out there? It’s because of the huge following they’ve cultivated through their loyal ARMY (their fanbase) which stands for Adorable Representatives of MC Youth. They are spread all across the world and support them no matter what!!! Each member has helped create BT21 characters which are in collaborations with LINE FRIENDS. They are the most adorable and cute characters, each having their own special qualities just like the members of BTS. This project BT21 has helped the fanbase to stay connected to their idols. Just like their creators, they have an adorable and huggable quality which is a very important part of being in a K-pop band.

Apart from making music BTS has also appeared in a few T.V shows, online shows, films, exhibitions. They have many musical collaborations with famous artists as well, which opens up to the wider range of listeners and attracts more fan following. There are more than hundreds of Instagram and youtube pages or channels which have a lot of cute, funny, adorable moments of the group which is always a treat to watch.

Now that you know all the layers to BTS why not go check out some of their best songs( basically everything ).
